GenRates is an independent pricing observatory for AI video generation APIs — 93 price points across 14 models and 11 providers, normalized to cost per second, each one dated and source-linked.
We built this because we were the target user: developers comparing per-clip grids, token formulas and credit systems that were never meant to be comparable.
The desk · no provider ownership
GenRates is operated by the GenRates Research desk — an independent publisher with no ownership ties to any API provider, model developer, or reseller we track. That independence is the product; the four rules below are how we keep it.
Every table is like-for-like at a comparable ~720p class and normalized to one unit — USD per second — so a 480p fast tier never beats a 1080p standard one by accident. If a number can't be sourced, it doesn't headline a ranking.
87 of 93 prices (94%) are read directly from a published page. The rest stay tagged reported until we confirm them — never quietly promoted into a “cheapest” claim.

They decide what gets published, in what order it is ranked, and how fast a wrong number gets fixed.
Each price links its public source and shows the date we last checked it. verified means we read the provider's published price ourselves; reported means a credible secondary source we haven't yet confirmed — reported figures are never headlined as “cheapest”.
Some outbound links are referral links (marked rel="sponsored" and disclosed in the footer). Sort order is verified price only. No provider can pay to move up a table — sponsor placements, when they exist, are visually separate and labeled.
A pipeline re-checks provider pages every 12 hours; any price that moves more than 40% is quarantined for human review before publishing. Full rules on the methodology page.

Every price we publish is available as JSON — take it, build on it, cite it.
