Seedance 2.5 launched on July 31, 2026. As of August 1, exactly one published API rate card exists for it — ByteDance's own BytePlus ModelArk — and it prices 2.5 at roughly 1.5x what Seedance 2.0 costs on the same page. No third-party reseller has live 2.5 pricing yet; every one we track is either 404ing the URL or flashing "coming soon." This page is now the launch tracker, and the live rate table stays at /models/seedance-2.5.
Everything below is verified against our browser-checked dataset on August 1, 2026. Numbers are quoted verbatim from source pages; the only figures we generate are the arithmetic, which we show.
The verified launch price
BytePlus ModelArk lists Seedance 2.5 under model id dreamina-seedance-2-5-260628, page last updated July 31, 2026. It is an audio-video joint model — native audio is generated with the video, not bolted on. Text-to-video is priced per second on 5-second clips:
| Model | Provider | Resolution | Mode | $/s | 5s clip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2.5 | BytePlus ModelArk (official) | 480p | T2V | $0.103 | $0.514 |
| Seedance 2.5 | BytePlus ModelArk (official) | 720p | T2V | $0.231 | $1.156 |
| Seedance 2.0 | BytePlus ModelArk (official) | 480p | T2V | $0.070 | $0.35 |
| Seedance 2.0 | BytePlus ModelArk (official) | 720p | T2V | $0.150 | $0.75 |
Source: docs.byteplus.com/en/docs/ModelArk/1099320. The 5s-clip column is BytePlus's own per-video cross-check ($0.514 at 480p, $1.156 at 720p) — it matches $/s × 5 to the cent (rounding aside). The 2.0 rows are the previous generation on the identical page, which is what makes the comparison clean: same vendor, same billing scheme, same day.
Image-to-video is not on this axis. BytePlus prices 2.5 i2v as a range keyed to input length, not output seconds — $1.244 to $4.838 at 720p. That is a ~3.9x span depending on how long your reference media runs, and it does not normalize to a per-second number. We do not quote an i2v $/s because there isn't one; budget i2v against your specific input duration.
The 1.5x: when 2.5 is worth it over 2.0
Because both generations sit on the same BytePlus page, the premium is exact rather than estimated:
- 480p: $0.103 ÷ $0.070 = 1.47x
- 720p: $0.231 ÷ $0.150 = 1.54x
Call it ~1.5x across the board. In per-clip dollars on a 5-second 720p generation, that is $1.156 for 2.5 versus $0.75 for 2.0 — a $0.41 difference per clip. At 480p it is $0.514 versus $0.35, a $0.16 difference. Small in isolation; the multiplier is what compounds.
At volume: 1,000 clips of 5s/720p run $1,156 on 2.5 versus $750 on 2.0 — a $406 gap for the same clip count. Ten thousand clips: $11,560 versus $7,500, a $4,060 gap.
So the honest question is not "is 2.5 better" — it will be — but "is it ~50% better for this shot." The math points to a clean rule:
- Pay for 2.5 when the generation is a hero shot, a client deliverable, or anything where native-audio quality and the 2.5 model's fidelity directly change the outcome. $0.41 extra per clip ($1.156 − $0.75 at the verified 720p rates) on a generation you'll actually use is nothing.
- Stay on 2.0 for bulk, drafts, iteration passes, and throwaway variations. At high clip counts the 1.5x is a real line item, and 2.0 at $0.15/s is still fully supported on the same official API — see our Seedance 2.0 pricing breakdown for the full provider ladder.
One caveat that cuts the other way: this is BytePlus's official rate, and official rates are historically the ceiling, not the floor (Veo 3.1 being the rare exception). With 2.0, third parties eventually undercut BytePlus hard — WaveSpeed landed 2.0 at $0.10/s versus BytePlus's $0.15/s. If that pattern repeats, the effective 2.5 premium over the cheapest 2.0 route will look worse than 1.5x until 2.5 resellers appear and compress it.
Third-party rollout tracker (as of Aug 1, 2026)
Launch day is consumer-and-official-first. Here is who actually has callable Seedance 2.5, checked August 1. This section is a living update log — we'll revise it as providers ship.
| Provider | Seedance 2.5 status (Aug 1) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| BytePlus ModelArk (official) | Live | Only published rate card. $0.103/s (480p), $0.231/s (720p) t2v |
| fal.ai | Not listed | 2.5 URL 404s; only 2.0 family available |
| WaveSpeedAI | Coming soon | 2.0 reseller; no 2.5 page yet |
| Replicate | 2.0 only | No 2.5 entry |
| Kie | Coming soon | No 2.5 pricing posted |
| Novita | 2.0 only | No 2.5 entry |
The takeaway for developers today: if you want Seedance 2.5 via API right now, BytePlus ModelArk is the only door, and $0.231/s at 720p is the only number you can actually pay. Everyone else is a waitlist or a stale 2.0 listing. That is normal for a day-one launch, and it will change — the question is how fast, and at what price.
The platform angle: two ways to buy 2.5, both awkward
Two consumer-facing platforms advertise Seedance 2.5, and neither gives you a clean per-clip price.
Higgsfield — advertised, not accessible. Higgsfield's Seedance 2.5 page markets the model, but the page itself admits it "doesn't have access yet — leave your email." So it's a waitlist wearing a product page. If you're weighing Higgsfield generally, our Higgsfield pricing breakdown covers what its tiers actually deliver — but 2.5 is not among them today.
Loova — access now, price hidden. Loova sells Seedance 2.5 access today, but only bundled inside its Ultimate/Max subscriptions, with no published per-unit price. The $0.08/s figure on Loova's page is for Seedance 2.0, not 2.5 — do not read it as a 2.5 rate. So Loova gives you 2.5 the model but not 2.5 the number: you're buying a subscription tier and hoping the bundle math works for your volume, which is exactly the calculation a per-second API lets you avoid.
Net: for a knowable, comparable price, BytePlus's $0.231/s is still the only honest answer. The platforms either gate 2.5 behind a waitlist (Higgsfield) or behind an un-priced subscription (Loova).
